On average, The CareSide is 25% less expensive than other home care providers. We will never surprise you with locked-in contracts or hidden fees—just honest pricing and premium care at an exceptional value.

If the government requires you to pay a co-contribution, our low hourly rates mean lower out-of-pocket expenses for you. You’ll receive more hours of support and be able to stretch your budget further.

Self-Managed Pricing Explained

You negotiate rates directly with your support worker(s), and The CareSide charges a 10% invoicing and compliance fee. Example: Your support worker’s rate is $50 per hour and you receive two hours of care. The total charge is $110, with $100 of that going directly to your support worker, and $10 going to The CareSide.

Fully Managed Pricing Explained

For a fully managed plan, there is no invoicing fee. You only pay the hourly rate for the service(s) you receive (i.e. the rates in the table above).

How much does home care cost with The CareSide?

Costs vary based on the services you need and whether you choose a fully managed plan or to self-manage your care. During your free care assessment and consultation with The CareSide, your Care Manager will develop an individualised care plan with you and provide a budget for required services.

For self-managed care recipients: You negotiate rates directly with your support worker(s), and The CareSide charges a 10% invoicing and compliance fee. How do you keep your rates so low?

We developed proprietary software to streamline our administrative processes wherever possible. This means we don’t need to charge exorbitant fees to cover our operating costs and can pass those savings back to you. Am I locked into a contract?

No, you are not locked into a contract. We are a flexible service, meaning you can receive as much or as little care as you like on the days and times that you choose. We do ask you to sign an agreement that details how your care services are delivered. This is legally required by The Aged Care Act. You can cancel your agreement at any time without penalty or any exit fees.

How do co-contributions work?

Contributions are different for everyone. Services Australia determines whether you need to make co-contributions, and if so, by how much. This is based on factors such as the services you receive, your income and assets, and when you were approved for government-funded services.

The CareSide’s service rates are significantly lower than most other providers, which translates to lower out-of-pocket costs for you. That’s because under Support at Home, program participants contribute a percentage of the cost for each service they receive.

Here’s an example: If Provider A charges $100/hour and you contribute 20%, that means you pay $20/hour. If Provider B charges $140/hour for the same service, you pay $28 per hour. Over time, the amount your provider charges for services can make a significant difference in your overall out-of-pocket costs.

I would like to keep my CHSP and Home Care Package funding – is that possible?

Whether you can retain your CHSP funding is up to the discretion of the CHSP provider. However, for social support, CHSP funding often continues, as specified by My Aged Care:

“Clients on a Level 1 to 4 package who have transitioned from the CHSP may continue to access their existing CHSP social support group on an ongoing basis to allow the continuity of social relationships. This only applies to clients attending a pre-existing CHSP social support group service.”

What is the difference between self-managed and fully managed care?

Under Support at Home, every care package requires an approved provider (such as The CareSide) to oversee the package. Your provider is legally required to host your funds and ensure that your care planning and spending comply with your package, which includes developing, tracking and adjusting your budget.

With a fully managed plan, the provider takes care of all the necessary tasks on your behalf, such as budgeting, coordinating care, recruiting and training your staff, scheduling services, and modifying your plan should your care needs change.

With a self-managed plan, all those tasks become your responsibility: you’ll have to ensure your carers have the necessary compliance documents (insurance and police checks) while also devoting more time and energy to administrative tasks that would otherwise be handled for you under a fully managed plan. That includes checking invoices against the budget you’ve created, as well as finding replacement staff when your carers go on leave or are unwell.

Remember, whether you self-manage your care or choose a fully managed plan, you’ll still maintain choice and control over your support workers, schedule, spending, and care.
